WebI subjectively find this to be quite typical. If I brew 5 grams for 20 seconds, which is around 150mg total caffeine, I should be getting somewhere around 10-15mg of caffeine. This seems right based on the effects. So if you are repeatedly brewing your tea over many infusions, say 10+, you'll probably be getting most of the caffeine extracted. WebRe-steeping brings out different flavors, sometimes the second one is best. I do mostly western style brewing, boiling water and steep for around 5 minutes for the first one then double that for the second. For Sheng puer, I only do gongfu brewing (short brew time) and lengthen each steeping. You’ll save on money re-steeping your tea.
