Furnaces are the only exception to that rule, and only because their output serves as a buffer, inserters can't completely fill the input or fuel slots. WebThe manual states that inserters will grab from the closest side of the belt preferentially, only grabbing from the opposite side if there is nothing on the near side. I've let the belt get backed up with iron ore on the top and copper on the bottom all the way in front of the inserters but still have one that's grabbing from the opposite side.
